Water Flow Measurement
Tyco Environmental Systems (TES) - Combined Instruments specialise in process measurement, control and disinfection systems. They produce electromagnetic flow meters.
Combined Instruments have a number of flow measurement devices available.
Electromagnetic Flowmeters
Electromagnetic Flowmeters are based on Faraday's Law of Magnetic Induction. In a magnetic flowmeter, the liquid acts as a conductor as it flows through the pipe. This induces a voltage which is proportional to the average flow velocity - the faster the flow rate, the higher the voltage. This voltage is picked up by sensing electrodes mounted in the meter tube and sent to the transmitter which takes the voltage and calculates the flow rate based on the cross sectional area of the meter tube.
Features are no moving parts, high accuracy, wide flow range and suitable for a wide range of corrosive and abrasive process fluids.
Applications:
- Water / Wastewater
- Water trunk mains and distribution lines, Wastewater allmains and treatment plant liquid flow applications.
- Irrigation
- (Battery powered version) for irrigation mains, pivots. Special version for channel measurement.
- Mining
- High percentage of solids
Sludge, slurries, minerals, paper, sewerage - flows with high levels of solids which cannot be measured by other types of meters.
- Chemical
- Compatible materials for very corrosive liquids, acids, caustics and corrosive chemical additives are isolated from the meter by inert linings and electrodes.
